Load your kayak solo. The Sherpak Boat Roller mounts to the back of your car with heavy-duty suction cups and gives the hull a rolling surface to slide up and over onto your roof blocks or rack. No more awkward overhead lifts, no more dented rooflines, no second person needed.

A closed-cell foam roller on a 27-inch aluminum bar protects the hull while it rolls. Especially useful for heavier touring and fishing kayaks that are hard to lift overhead.

This is one of those items that you wonder "Does it really work?" -- the answer is, at least for me, a resounding "yes"! It is secure, and interestingly my 6" "rubber ducky" rooftop antenna easily goes under it --see photo. … It is MUCH cheaper than some of the Yakima or Thule "holy roller" rack attachments that can cost as much as $200 or more for their kayak loading system. This review compares three competing brands of boat rollers that are similarly priced… The Seattle Sports has a wide stance and a low, flat foam roller. … I liked the “feel” of the foam roller and the lighter weight of the foam units as a whole. … Seattle Sports was easy to attach because the suction cups levers out to the sides. This is a well made boat roller with excellent suction pads to fix it on the car window... But the rollers are less then 2" in diameter forming no real groove for the keel and my kayak tends to slip off as I slide it. So I bought 4" foam rollers and I sliced one in half and used in instead. It forms a secure slot for my kayak's keel (see photo) and works much better now.

The roller bar on this gadget is just right, the amount of suction is good, and the build strength is adequate (for my 50lb boat). BUT, there are two big problems with this gadget: (1) The suction cups have very little flex and will only stick to a FLAT window. If there's even a little bit of curve in your window (either vertically or horizontally) then it won't stick AT ALL. … 2) This roller only works for sloped windows (like in the manufacturer's pictures). Questions

Will it fit my car?

It’s made for sloped rear glass, hatchbacks and flatter roofs. The suction cups need a clean, smooth surface. Very flat, upright rear windows are the hardest fit, so check your car before you buy.

How heavy a boat can it help with?

Reviewers use it for touring and fishing kayaks, including boats around 50 lb. You still lift one end; the roller carries the other while you push.
